I agree to an extent. Right now yes, yes he does get along very well by himself. But after a while that does get old and boring, and let's face it no one would want to be alone forever and he's not getting any younger even though he does live to be 150. He did go after Ozma and there was a scene in the episode "Plasma Monster" Where he gripped about the woman he loved running off with the tennis instructor. So he's been hurt before which probably partialy influences his choice. He's not out looking for something but if the occasion and the right person happened to come around who knows. I will say that out of all the pairings Linn Saturn is by far the best and the most in canon choice.

Fic's should not influence your take on a subject or situation since they are not actual fact just someones made up story. I especially don't give FF.net the time of day or any acknowledgement as being a good source of fic or anything since most if not all of the stories are totaly Marry Sue fics, or just utter OOC trash.
Personally, I found 42 to be rather annoying myself. I dunno, I never really found much to like about her, since most of the time she seemed to have an attitude problem and no reason for it.
For example, I dunno why 42 would hate Buzz and his crew so much, to be frank. I mean, Buzz prides himself in his ship, so logically you'd think he'd take good care of Star Cruiser 42. She claims she's 'the ship', so why hadn't she noticed how much care Buzz puts into her? Instead, she seems to loathe him with a passion.
And, of course, as you stated 42 wasn't very forthright in standing up for XR. I mean, well, if she really did like the little robot, you'd think she'd do something for him at least once.
It seems like, if it'll cost her something, she won't do it. So, by my asumptions, I found her to be rather selfish most of the time.
As a Ty fan, that's just from my observations and personal opinion. I never really had anything against her, but she was also probably one of the characters I liked the least.
EDIT: Ugh, darned word censor... Now, I purposely misspelled the word as 'asumptions', without two s's, because it replaces it.

ARRRRRRGH. I hate her so much. Worst couple in Disney history (perhaps even topping Stitch/Angel).
First she yells at him, then she's all "I could use someone to talk to" and XR falls for her because that's what he does, and then the minute she gets a body she's like "we can be just friends", and I think she was using him to get a body. She wouldn't stick up for XR when Buzz was calling him crazy for thinking the ship was alive, either. It bugs me to no end.
Of course, maybe I'm just jealous... >>;;;;; but really, she dumped him after one day! D:
Though her episode did have one good point, it showed that XR can fall in love with someone with no body. Who'd've thunk it?
