*This is why Warp Darkmatter is so evil.*
One the planet Sentilia it was almost dusk. The twin suns were
setting in the Western sky. It was a cold winter day, January 17th. A
lone figure stood over two graves in the frozen snow. The crosses
protruded from the ground.
"Twenty-five years ago today," the figure said sadly as he hung his
head, "But it seems like only yesterday." He looked up at the two
crosses that read `Rex and Starla Darkmatter'. These were the graves
of Warp's long dead parents. The figure who stood over was their one
and only son Warp Darkmatter. He came to pay his respects to the only two
people he cared about in the world, besides his son Vortex. Warp once
had a happy childhood. Living on the outskirts of the main city, in
the peaceful country side, but by fate it was all suddenly ended.
"I still remember, Mom, Dad. I remember what he did to you, to me."
Warp grabbed his head as the memories flooded back into his vision.
The fire, the screams, Varcus' evil laughing face.
~Flash back~
It was a bitter cold January night. Warp was 10 years old and his
parents sent him off to bed. They tucked him in, read him a story and
kissed him good night. Their last words to him were, "Love you son."
As Rex and Starla closed Warp's bedroom door their happy faces were
wiped clean and they saddened.
"What are we going to do?" Starla asked her husband Rex.
Starla Darkmatter was a tall woman about 30 years old. She had blue
skin like the rest of her species, and dark blue hair that reached
the middle of her back. Her dress was simple and red, not fancy.
"Varcus said he would destroy the house if we didn't pay back the
loan," the Darkmatters were deep in debt to Astro Varcus, he
considered himself to be a civilized man but took uncivilized
measures to collect his fee.
"Don't worry Starla, I'll think of something. I always have before."
Rex said to comfort Starla. But the truth was he had no idea how he
was going to pull this off.
Rex was a big guy, very powerful. He had blue skin with short black
hair and a beared. He was clad in jeans and a polo shirt.
"Just no matter what, we can't let Warp know how bad it is."
Starla looked at Warp's door and sighed, "Poor boy, he'll never be
anything in life." they both knew that their son had something great
in his future. He was smart and witty, a genius at age ten already.
Of course it was a parents job to always think the best of their
child. They would have liked to see him become something but they
could not afford to send him to a proper school.
They had thought that their conversation was privet but what they did
not know was that Warp was at the door listening. He was frightened.
Frightened that something bad was going to happen, and that he would
never be anything more then a commoner. The young Warp ran back to
his bead and hid under the covers to cry himself to sleep.
~Back out~
"Why didn't you tell me?" Warp cursed the sky, "I could have done
something. Maybe you would be here today," Warp cringed as yet
another nightmare haunted him.
~Flash back~
The clock struck midnight and everyone in the house was now asleep.
No one heard Varcus and his men ride up on their cycles.
"I warned you but you did not heed my warning," Varcus said as he
held a flame thrower. "Let's give them a not so gentle eviction
notice," Astro Varcus sneered as he pointed the flame thrower at the
house and fired. Pretty soon the house was in flames and smoke filled
it. Warp's parents ran into his room and got their son out of bed.
"Come on honey, we have to leave now!" Starla Darkmatter took her
son's hand and yanked him out of bed.
"Mommy, what's going on?" the frightened child asked as he was drug
along by his mother and father.
"Nothing, just come with me," she didn't want to tell Warp the truth
and upset him further.
The house was soon engulfed in flames and it became harder to see or
to breath. The family tried to escape through the front door but a
fiery blaze stood between them.
"Come on! Let's go out the window!" Rex commanded and they made it to
Warp's room with flames at their heels. Below the window was a pile
of hay so it would not hurt when one fell. The flames were closing in
on them. There was only time for one person to make it out and the
window was too small for an adult.
"Warp, I want you to listen to me," Starla said to her crying
frightened son. "When you go out the window I want you to run, run as
fast as you can."
"Are you coming with me?" he never liked to be alone.
"Soon, honey, soon," she wasn't going to tell him that they probably
wouldn't make it. "Be brave sweety, and don't look back. We love you
very much," she kissed him good bye and dropped him into the hay.
When he hit he ran to the tree line. When he made it he heard the
sound of his parents screaming as they obviously met their maker.
"Mommy, Daddy?" he turned around thinking they were coming and
yelling for him to slow down. But what he saw was the ashy remains of
where a house once stood.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Astro Varcus came to the young child as he wept.
"There young one," he said in a calming tone, but there was no pity in
his voice. "You are lucky you were spared. You should learn from your
parents mistake," he said and forced Warp to look at the
cinders. "Remember young one. What am I saying? Out here in the cold,
you're as good as dead anyways," Varcus laughed and rode out on his
cycle, leaving Warp to die.
