Here are bits and pieces of a fan fic I've been working on...

***We've held on as long as we could. But supplies are dwindling and there is something out there. What it is, I don't know. But it's already taken Ashlar and Natue. We haven't seen them since they left to collect samples several days ago. Dr. Shumta and I are the only ones left. Oh sweet mother of Venus, we're going to die. The shuttle is damaged beyond repair and communications are down. We have accepted that there will be no rescue. We have...***
The rangers seated around the table in the stations briefing room sat in silence, their minds still trying to process the fact that they had just seen the final words of one of the galaxy's finest scientists.
"That's the only part of Dr. Riskah's transmission back to Duhkarna that was received from her team's expedition to Mu'taarine." The Commander switched off the holo projector. "There have been no further communications with the doctor and her team and we have to assume the worst."
“Did the doctor transmit any previous messages that said she was concerned about the planet?” Mira asked, her sapphire blue eyes filled with concern.
Nebula sat down in his chair and steepled his fingers. "No, not that we’re aware of. Now the doctor and her team were investigating the suitability of Mu'taarine as another place to house their growing population. According to the Duhkari senator, their planet has become far too small and they had requested to annex Mu'taarine. The Alliance agreed providing the planet was suitable for sustaining life."
“We need to know what happened there.” The Commander said, rubbing his hand across his brow, his face suddenly looking tired. “The Duhkari and the Alliance are going to want answers and Buzz, you and your team are going to Mu’taarine.”
Team Lightyear looked at each other and finally after a long moment of silence, Buzz stood.
“Yes sir.” He saluted the elder ranger. “We’ll leave within the hour.”
“Good.” The Commander said watching the four rangers as they left the briefing room. “And Buzz…”
Lightyear turned, his teammates going through the door ahead of him.
“Yes sir.”
“Be careful. I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
Smoke billowed out from beneath Star Cruiser 42 and filled the launch bay as the ship prepared to launch.
“Star Cruiser 42, this is Command and Control, you are cleared for launch.”
“Roger that.” Lightyear pressed a few more buttons and nodded at Mira who pushed the throttle forward. The young woman felt the ship jolt to life beneath her and smiled. Mira loved launching, loved the feeling of the engines as they surged with power, loved blasting off into the beyond. Her heart pounded with excitement as Lightyear prepared the engines for hyperdrive.

"What the..." Mira's long fingers traced over a series of green markings on the side of the Duhkari shuttle. "Buzz, look at these..."
Lightyear knelt down next to the Tangean, his brows drawn tightly together as he studied at the markings. "What are those? They look like laser burns."
Mira nodded. “I don't think they are. Look..." She showed Buzz her gloved hand, green liquid particles resting on the tips of her fingers. "It's some sort of chemical."
She rubbed the tips of her fingers together, eyes closed, brows knitted together in concentration. Suddenly her eyes snapped open and her face took on a look of sheer terror.
"Oh dear God..." Mira whispered.
Buzz stared at the princess, knowing full well by the look on her face that something was terribly wrong.
"Mira? Mira, what is it?" He asked.
She said nothing, eyes cast downward, her face slowing losing its vibrant blue color as the realization of what she had felt from the green substance finally hit her completely. Her mouth couldn’t form the words to tell him the truth of what she had discovered.
Lightyear grabbed Mira by her shoulders, shaking her, trying to get her out of the fog she seemed to be lost in. “What is it?! Tell me, darn it!”
She finally lifted her head and focused her blue eyes on her commanding officer and swallowed. “It’s the Duhkari.” She whispered.
“What’s the Duhkari? What are you talking about?” Lightyear’s tone was short. He was becoming annoyed with her.
“The substance. It’s the Duhkari.”
Buzz’s mouth dropped open in shock. “What?”
“I felt them, more precisely echoes of them.” The Tangean closed her eyes.
“How? How is that possible? Maybe you’re mistaken. You’ve said yourself that your powers aren’t fully developed yet.”
Mira shoved Buzz away from her and stood up angrily, turning away from him. “My powers may not be fully developed, but I know what I felt. What ever that substance is, it took them.” She lowered her head, her shoulders slumping. She raised a hand to tuck a stray strand of her red hair behind her ear.
The air was tense between the two rangers as neither one of them spoke. Buzz stared at the young woman’s back, unable to say anything to her. Finally, she turned and looked at him, blue eyes full of tears.
“Buzz, it hurt them. I can hear their screams in my mind, feel their pain. We need to get off this planet or we’re going to end up like Duhkari.”
“Not until we figure this thing out. The Commander and the Alliance will want answers.”
“I know, but something doesn’t want us here. That I am sure of.”

The princess sat quietly in her seat, a headache was beginning to take form in the back part of her head. The mission had been difficult and tense and so far the trip back to the station had consisted of a few terse words from Lightyear. Mira shut her eyes and rubbed her neck and shoulders, wanting nothing more than to get back in time to take a relaxing bath. She sighed and tried to clear her mind of all thoughts, hoping that would end the headache.
/Mira/
Her eyes snapped open.
/Mira/
The princess looked around the cruiser’s bridge, wondering if one of her teammates had called her name. But each was involved in their own work and obviously not talking to each other or to her.
/Mira/
She put her hands over her ears and squeezed her eyes shut. It was coming from within her head she now realized, sort of breathy sounding voice that kept repeating her name.
/Mira/
“Shut up!” She yelled out loud, not aware that her outburst had caused the three members of her team to look up, startled. The Tangean opened her eyes slowly, suddenly aware that the atmosphere on the bridge had changed and she could feel three pairs of eyes staring at her.
“Mira, are you all right?” Buzz asked, his voice laced with concern.
She didn’t answer.
“Mira?”
/Mira, nachen temen. Nachen temen./
The Tangean’s mind was processing the information.
“Mira, I asked you if you were all right.” Buzz’s tone was sharp this time.
/Nachen temen!/
A growl came from deep within Mira’s throat and she lunged at Buzz.
“What the…” The startled ranger was knocked from his chair to the floor of the bridge. The Tangean was clawing at him and Lightyear tried to deflect her attack away from his face and head. He managed to push her off and she flew backwards, hitting up against the cruiser’s main console. The ranger pinned her to the console in an effort to try and calm her down, but she cried out in rage and with energy and strength he was not aware she possessed, Mira shoved him away. Buzz landed hard on his back and was momentarily dazed by the impact.
The princess growled and lunged at Buzz once again. Defensively the ranger grabbed her wrists, trying to keep her from clawing his face. The girl let out a cry of frustration and continued struggling with Lightyear before he finally managed to get to his feet and pushed her against a nearby bulkhead, pinning her wrists to the smooth metal.
Mira was panting; her teeth gritted together, her hair disheveled. Buzz was shocked at the sight of her face, the wild look of out of control fury twisting her lovely, delicate features.
And just as suddenly as the look had come on, the rage drained from her face and left in its place a look of total confusion. Mira looked at Buzz, who was staring at her with an anger she had never seen before. He was holding her wrists against the bulkhead, squeezing them in his grip to the point it was almost painful.
“Buzz, stop! You’re hurting me!” Mira cried out. She tried to gather the energy to ghost through him, but there was no energy left. She felt completely drained.
The ranger released his grip and the princess sank to the floor as Booster and XR looked on, both confused by the events of the past few minutes. Nothing was said for a moment, the only sound on the bridge was Mira’s ragged breathing.
“Booster…”
“Yes Buzz…” The Jo-adian responded, a slight hesitation in his voice.
“I want you to take Ranger Nova to the brig and to make sure she doesn’t ghost out.”
A choked cry came from the young woman sitting hunched over on the floor. Booster and XR stared at their leader in shock, both unsure if Buzz’s order stemmed from a concern for both Mira’s safety and their own or as much as they didn’t want to admit it, his genuine anger at the princess.
“Booster! Now!”
A look of hurt passed over the red alien’s gentle face and he carefully helped the Tangean to her feet and taking her by the arm, he led her carefully from the bridge.

“Booster, I didn’t mean to do it! I didn’t know what I was doing. This voice…” Mira’s frantic pleadings trailed off as she began to sob. The incident on the bridge had scared her and the Jo-adian looked at his friend with concern as the “tough girl” wall she had built around herself was completely eroded away, leaving only a frightened girl.
