Wow. Doing very well so far - just judging by this, I can tell it's going to be an awesome tutorial. I love how you lay out all the basics first, laying out the various shapes of her face, eyes, etc, and pointing out the different styles the animators used. Also I agree with everything you've been saying, because I notice that when you draw a character you get a feel for the details and personality unique to him/her. You notice things in drawing them that you wouldn't normally notice just from watching the show.

Many people look at Mira and they automatically want to make her a Ranger, want to make her tough, want to make her forget her background (that's honestly why I can't stand those pics of Mira in those stiff rather "butch" (for a lack of a better word) poses holding a gun.) She is a Ranger, but she didn't join to go around shooting stuff. So many people when they've drawn her they lose her femininity. She is a woman. She has grace. She has a elegant, regal air to her. She is beautiful. She just not some military-possessed woman.
She is a princess, she will be the Queen of a planet one day. You can see that in the way she carries herself. She is not like Buzz, who is stiff and formal in a military way. Mira is formal in a regal way. She's had a different upbringing, so her style of "Rangering" would be different than Buzz's. Watch her in eps. She is graceful. She has those long legs, long, slender arms, and slender figure that almost remind one of a dancer. She is thin, but not sickly thin and not abnormally thin. She's curvy. You can see occassionally in the way she acts around males that she knows she is an attractive woman who is perfectly capable of being flirty.
I read into characters. It is what I've been trained to do. And Mira's just one I've disected to the fullest.

Great first part . You know I've never really thought about all that before. But youre right, you should probably consider who you are drawing before ever lifting a finger. You brought up a lot of good points that most people whould have just never noticed.

That was definitely enlightening. ;D Very well-composed tutorial so far, so good work on it! Gave a lot of insight to the character already, and contained lots of stuff I haven't even thought before. Hope to see the next part soon!
